Seminole Select lacrosse won
the 2012 Winter Laxfest U15 championship on Monday, January 16, in Richmond. The venue was the Richmond Rise indoor complex. The teams played on a turf field, approximately 2/3 the size of a regular field. It seemed a lot smaller however because of the side boards. The event was had a U15 and a high school division.
It was certainly a team effort as every player
contributed to the teams' success. After losing early and then beating the same team
later for the championship showed that the team improved throughout the day and became a better
defensive and offensive team as the tournament progressed. For the day Seminole Select went 4-1. The majority of the Select were in the U13 division last summer, so this was a step up in
competition. Coaches Rich Little & Jim Loffredo were very pleased with the way the team meshed as the day went on. There were players who had never seen each other before but it only took a game or two for them to work as a team. The team was comprised of members of the ACAC Green Machine and players from the Seminole Lacrosse League. Middle Schools represented on the team included Buford, Henley, Sutherland, and Burley.
