Culpeper wins first ever District 14 Little League Title
It's every kids dream. Have the game come down to the last inning/second and deliver the winning run or points. Culpeper catcher Corey Twomey can cross that off his bucket list as he drove a pitch in the bottom of the 6th over the left field fence at Central to send Culpeper to their first ever visit to the state Little League tournament in Leesburg. Louisa was in a tight spot, having to win two games over Culpeper in order to advance. They had built a 3 -0 lead after after Cale Agee hit a home run in the top of the 5th. Louisa went on to load the bases but Culpeper turned a 8-1-2 double play to end the inning. Culpeper then stepped up and drove in 2 runs on a double and then tied the game on a wild pitch. After Louisa made no noise in the 6th the stage was set for Twomey. Louisa does have something to cheer about tonight and to look forward to next year. Their 10/11 team run ruled Monticello 17-4 to advance to State. Additionally the Louisa 9/10 softball, major softball, & senior baseball all advanced for Louisa. East Orange will represent District 14 in junior baseball as will the Jefferson Area Girls Softball in senior softball.
