Developing the teen athlete's strength & conditioning
Once school ends most high school athletic programs start their off-season
conditioning. One of the greatest factors to have affected competitive
athletics has been the incorporation of organized strength & conditioning programs into high school, collegiate, and professional
athletic programs across the country. Strength & Conditioning programs have made competitive athletics more explosive and more
exciting, as athletes have made great improvements in strength, power, speed, endurance, and body control. Since that time, strength and
conditioning programs have become an integral part of athletic programs across the country. Strength and conditioning increases performance,
reduces risk of injury, and builds overall athletic confidence. Well rounded programs will test, assess, and make a game plan for the athlete
that helps them in these 3 areas. Clay Fitness + Nutrition Youth and Teens training takes athletes at every stage to a place of
understanding strengths and weaknesses, and develops a custom game plan to ensure the athlete sees changes in all areas. Benchmarking, and
assessments not only identify where the athlete is, but provide a road map for what to focus on in the context of the athletes goal across
sports. The athlete follows a protocol specific to their goals and re-tests at the end of a period so that it's clear that their effort was
effective. Most importantly the teen athlete will learn how to do the program correctly. This past year Clay Fitness worked with the varsity
lacrosse team at CHS who went on to have their most successful season in years. In VHSL schools there are specific rules on what constitutes a
practice and what does not. In order to avoid losing an on-field practice the summer conditioning is considered to be voluntary and often
can be less supervised than during the regular season practice. Clay Fitness offers individual and team training sessions and can tailor the
program for the specific sport if desired.
