Looking for a spring sports challenge? Try out the 2nd annual Dogwood Duathlon, a run-bike-run duathlon for youth ages 7-16 in Charlottesville. The event will be held on the morning of Sunday, May 8, 2011 in the Forest Lakes South neighborhood.

The primary objective for this race is for it to be an introduction to friendly competition with an emphasis on enjoyment of exercise, good sportsmanship and personal fitness. All participants will receive a t-shirt and all finishers will receive an award. There will be food and drinks for all participants, and lots of great door prizes and raffle drawings from local merchants.

The proceeds from the Dogwood Duathlon will help the local SOCA U14 soccer players in their fundraising efforts to play in a tournament in Italy, as well as support SOCA’s Matt Henderson Fund and the Childhood Obesity Task Force.
