Freedom ends run for CHS Girls soccer
Last
Thursday the CHS girls soccer team gave assistant coach Liz Edrington a
great birthday present, the Jefferson District title with a 5-1 win
over Monticello. It was a game that was played with passion and
intensity and that was repaid with a 5-0 lead at the half. Ellie Von
Storch and Mia O’Neil each scored for CHS and Mary Hemenway had a hat
trick and that was more than enough. The Mustangs scored from 35 yards
out on a brilliant free kick from Ellie Linkous in the second half but
could do know further damage. CHS went into the Regional Quarterfinals
Tuesday night against Freedom High School with a 17-1 record but
unfortunately it ended there. After striking first the Black Knights
were unable to get the ball back in the net and Freedom was able to net
3. Monticello had to hit the road and travel to Handley High School in
Winchester to play their Region II Quarterfinal match. The Mustangs lost
to the Judges and end their season at 13-6-1.
