Henley 'A' wins BMSLL Championship
BMSLL
ended their season Sunday with multiple OT games, storm delays, games
canceled and excellent lacrosse. The 7th & 8th grade teams were all
on Albemarle High School’s turf field due to the rains that fell
Saturday and expected on Sunday. In the opener Henley B lost 8-7 in
double overtime to an improved Field School team in the first game of
the day. It was a great effort that came up just short on the field. The
second game of the day was ended in the 3rd quarter due to weather
issues with a 4-4 tie between Buford and Burley. After weather delays Sutherland Teal beat Jouett '2' 5-4 in a 2OT nail-biter, Walton won a single OT over Fluvanna 7-6, Jouett '1' beat Burley 3-2 and Covenant beat Sutherland White 6-3. The nightcap
was equally exciting with Henley A claiming the 2011 BMSLL Championship
with a thrilling 6-5, come-from-behind, double overtime win over rival
STAB. Holland Corbett tied the game with 10 seconds left in regulation,
and Crawford Ulmer delivered the game winner in the 2nd overtime. This
was Henley's first BMSLL championship in 4 years, and is likely the
first time ever that Henley defeated STAB 3 times in one season
according to Coach Ern. BMSLL would like to thank the players, coaches, parents & sponsors for help making this another successful Middle School Lacrosse season.
