JAGS win District 14 Senior Title!

Area Girls Softball (JAGS) 13/16 Little League team complete inaugural
season by winning District 14 championship. The league was formed at the
end of 2010 and by opening day in April, JAGS had over 180 young
athletes signed up and ready to play. The season was a great success in
spite of expected minor growing pains like fields, rain-outs, umpire
availability, etc., and are looking for even more participation in 2012.
With the conclusion of the regular season JAGS was able to get 3 All
Star teams into the Little League District 14 Tournament hosted by the
East Orange Little League. The age groups that were represented were
9/10s, 11/12s, and 13/16s and all of them did an outstanding job. The
9/10s played 5 games, making it to the finals where they lost to
returning and repeating champion Louisa. The 11/12s also had a strong
showing and a never say quit attitude and finished the tournament with a
1 & 2 record. Finally,  the JAGS 13/16s had an outstanding
tournament going undefeated with only 2 runs being scored against them. They
will be the District 14 representative at the Little League State
Tournament which will include teams from all over the Commonwealth. This
will start July 14 through July 19 and will be held in Honaker,
Virginia. The team will be working very hard over the next 9 days and
are hoping to bring back to Albemarle/Charlottesville the State
