Jefferson District Field Hockey Championship underway at WAHS

The 2011 Jefferson District Field Hockey Championship began Monday,
October 24ths, at Western Albemarle High School. #1 seed WAHS, #2 seed
Monticello, and #3 CHS received bye. #4 seed Powhatan eliminated Louisa
4-0 on the turf field on Monday afternoon. Today Western takes on
Powhatan in the first game of a double header at 5:30. At 7 pm
Monticello will face CHS. WAHS is the regular season champion and
figures to take of their business with ease as Powhatan struggled
throughout league play. WAHS defeated Powhatan both times they played
this season . Charlottesville has had a disappointing season in the win
column but played MHS tough, losing both matches 1-0. The championship game will be played Thursday evening at 7 at the Western field.
