Monticello United travel soccer teams completed their fall schedule with multiple titles.
The MonU U12, U15 and U16 girls won Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL)
division
titles, while the U17 and U18 girls took 2nd place in their divisions.
It was the inaugural travel season for the U12 and U15 teams, and both
groups show great promise. The U16 girls, in their second season, made
it back to back ODSL titles, and back to back

undefeated seasons. The U17 girls did a great job blending in a mix of experienced players
with
many new, younger girls. The U18 girls finished just 1 point out of the
top spot in a hotly contested division. Over the past 4 years both the
U17 and U18 teams have risen steadily in ODSL league play. On the boys
side, the newly formed MonU U18 Fire finished their

Virginia
Soccer League (VSL) season in 3rd place with a 5-3-0 record. With the
focus on ball control and possession, the final scores were not always
indicative of how well the boys played. To quote one opposing coach "The
most skillful team we've played all

year.
They beat us with skills and patience.” The MonU U15 girls followed up
their ODSL division title with a 2-1-1 record and a 2nd place finish at
the Capital Fall Classic tournament,

losing
by 1 goal to eventual undefeated champion Alliance SC (MD). The girls
played terrific soccer all weekend, capped off with a 2-2 tie in a back
and forth local derby vs SOCA U15 premier. After clinching their 2nd
consecutive ODSL title, the MonU U16 girls had 2 wins and a tie in their
Capital Fall Classic tournament bracket. After defeating Beach FC 2-1
in their opening game, the girls tied the U17 FC Richmond Mystx 1-1, and
soundly defeated VA Legacy 3-0. Both of those teams play in the VCCL,
regarded as one of the top leagues in the state. The team continues to
develop nicely in just their 2nd season of travel soccer.
