WAHS wins JD swimming & diving championship

Western
Albemarle won the Jefferson District girls & boys Swimming &
Diving Championship for 2012 on Saturday at Fork Union Military Academy.
For the girls it is just their first step in defending their 2011 state
title. The seniors on the team have 4 JD championship titles as does
Coach Dave Bowen. The WAHS girls won the regular season undefeated and
the CHS boys won the regular season with a record of 7-1. Championship highlights included
Ryan Mitchell of Monticello winning the 200 & 100 meter Free Style ;
Natalie Cronk of WAHS winning the 100 meter breast & 200 meter
Freestyle, Charlottesville sweeping the top 3 spots in the boys 50 meter
free, & WAHS girls sweeping the 200 meter IM. JD Swimmer of the
year Nathaniel Bullard, Bryan Hancock  & Sam Runkle pulled off the
trifecta for the Black Knights & Seana Acker, Anna Corley, Madison
Tegen did the same for Western. Coach Dan Bledsoe of Western won the
Boys Coach of the Year and and Louisa’s Debra Bickley is the Girls Coach
of the Year.
