Northside Cal Ripken League
BLASTBALL (Age 4)
Modified Tball with small team size and lots of fun for our youngest players! Blastball is a program designed as an introduction to the sport of baseball. Blastball is a great program for those players that have never had any experience playing an organized sport. Northside is the only league in the area to offer the Blastball program.
T-BALL (Ages 5&6)
A program designed to teach the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, and throwing. All batters will hit the ball from a batting tee which is adjusted to a height that allows the batter to swing level. All players present for the game bat every inning. At least one adult coach is stationed beyond the infielders in order to provide instruction to all defensive players. The primary goal is to begin to instruct young players in the fundamentals of baseball in a supportive team environment.
ROOKIE (Ages 7&8)
By controlling pitches with a pitching machine, there is more action at the plate and in the field. Fear of being hit by a pitched ball is diminished. It makes the game safer and improves the playing confidence and ability of all participants. It removes the boredom - which is often the result of either overpowering or inadequate pitching - by throwing strikes. Fewer errors and greater throwing accuracy are the result of increase in activity. The rookie league is an excellent way for players to continue learning the fundamentals of the game and building confidence.
MINOR (Ages 9&10)
First experience with kid pitch baseball. Among teammates of their own age and experience level, players continue building and refining their fundamental skills while they begin to understand game strategy.
MAJOR (Ages 11&12)
"Real Baseball" on the larger 70' diamond with a pitching distance of 50'. Baserunners learn the art of taking leads and stealing. Pitchers, Catchers, and Fielders learn the strategies and mechanics of holding runners on base.
